NYC Seniors Performing Yoga

The New York based City Parks Foundation has announced its free 2015 Seniors Fitness program schedule for all New Yorkers over the age of 60.

The Fall 2015 season goes from September 21 to October 30 and consists of free tennis lessons, yoga instruction and fitness walking. You can find a free program in any of the 15 parks across the five boroughs.

For free yoga and tennis head on over to one of the following parks: Astoria Park in Astoria, Cunningham Park in Fresh Meadows, Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Flushing, and Roy Wilkins Park in South Jamaica.

City Parks encourages that all participants maintain regular attendance to maximize their time and effort. You can find all of the six-week programs running once or twice a week at each location.

City Parks started back in 2006 and has successfully served over 7000 participants. Its primary goal is to make sure neighborhood parks remain a great place for community activity. They also aim to make sure any and all activities are to benefit participants of all ages.

They emphasize that even moderate exercise can maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes, and even reduce the symptoms of arthritis.


Just by coming to a class once or twice a week, Seniors Fitness participants are getting good and necessary exercise, helping them not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.
